A startup with a focus on big data and analysis, Sensors Data, raises $44 million for its PaaS platform which helps companies work with and analyse data.
Sensor Analytics is the primary offering by the Chinese company. The product helps companies collect, analyse and advance with the data available to them. Founded by Wenfeng Sang, Sensors Data raised its first investment as an angel fund round in March 2015.
“At Sensors Data, we believe deploying the product only unlocks 20 per cent of the core value to our clients,” Sang said, as reported by Deal Street Asia. “Our unique strength lies in our ability to continuously serve and provide insights to our customers, to achieve data-driven targets, across their entire life cycle.”
An organization which is affiliated with Warburg Pincus led the most recent funding round which also saw investments from Sequoia Capital China, DCM Ventures, Xiang He Capital, Morningside Venture Capital, Linear Venture and Future Capital.
Last year the company also raised funds from DCM Ventures and Sequoia Capital China. The $11 million Series B round was held in March of last year.
“Worldwide data generated will reach 44 trillion GB by 2020, which will drive an immense demand for data-related storage, processing, analysis and applications, Managing Director of Warburg Pincus, Gordon Ding, said. “Our study shows Sensors Data’s customers exhibit a high level of stickiness, as over 40 percent of customers use Sensors Analytics in multiple departments every day.”
According to a company statement, funds from the recent $44 million Series C round will be allocated to research and development and adapting to the market among other aspects.
The data analysis company also raised $4 million from Sequoia Capital China, Linear Venture, Future Capital and Manzi Xue in a Series A round in April 2016.
Since its founding in April 2015, China Unionpay, China Telecom, Baidu Video, China Youth Travel Service, China Pacific Insurance, Bailian Group, Wanda Group, and Haier have all been clients of Sensors Data.
