Gurugram-based digital gaming startup, Zupee, raises a new Series A investment round worth $10 million.
The startup provides users with a mobile app with quizzes and trivia games live so players can compete against one another to win cash prizes.
The new funding round will be put toward continued growth plans and market expansion plans, among other areas.
Zupee’s platform is filled with quizzes in over 500 categories including general knowledge, school subjects such as math and history, and pop culture, among others. The company has developed around 2000 digital quizzes so far.
Investors in the Series A round include WestCap Group and Matrix Partners India, among others.
“2020 witnessed online gaming truly explode in India, and Zupee’s accelerated growth during the year is a clear testament to this surge,” Managing Director at Matrix Partners, Tarun Davda, said, as reported by Economic Times.
The gaming startup has future plans to provide its platform in local Indian languages, ET reported.
Since the startup’s founding in 2018, Zupee has provided users with approximately Rs 10 crore total in winnings from their platform’s trivia games, so far.
“We have driven an exponential month-on-month growth this year,” Co-founder and CEO at Zupee, Dilsher Singh Malhi, said, ET reported. “This fresh round of funding enables us to double down on our scaling efforts.”
