Australian design marketplace startup, DesignCrowd, raises new investment round

Sydney-based graphic design startup, DesignCrowd, raises a new investment round worth $10 million AUD.

The startup provides a digital service where customers seeking design can be connected with designers to fill their needs. Design elements available on the website can be used for categories including logo design, website design, apps, retail items such as clothing, books, blogs, magazines and newspapers, among others.

The company provides customers with access to over 800,000 designers, which can be found via category of design, or location. The new pre-IPO investment will be put toward the startup’s crowdsourcing platform, BrandCrowd.

if a small business wants to start by getting a custom logo design from a designer on DesignCrowd, we then allow them to use that logo in our DIY design tools on BrandCrowd to make everything else they might need, from business card designs to Instagram posts and email signature,” Co-Founder at DesignCrowd, Alec Lynch, as reported by TechCrunch.

DesignCrowd was founded by Lynch and Adam Arbolino in 2007 and will use the new investment to focus on BrandCrowd, as well as team growth plans. The platform allows customers to download designs for a fee, or using one of its subscription plans.

Investors in the round include Perennial Value Management, Alium Capital, Ellerston Capital, Regal Funds Management, CVC, Starfish Ventures and AirTree Ventures.
