Tan90 raises Rs 5 crore investment for its cold storage services

Chennai-based cold storage transportation startup, Tan90, raises a new investment round worth Rs 5 crore.

The startup focuses its services and research on environmental sustainability and energy efficiency in order to help reduce the carbon footprint within the industry.

Tan90 offers different options for cold storage transportation for businesses based on the products, such as meat, fish, fruit, or vegetables, among others. The current available options by the company are the Box90, the P90, Bag90 and Evap90.

“Post the lockdown due to Covid19, the importance of cold chain has had been underlined with the supply chain of all perishables,” Tan90 Co-founder, Soumalya Mukherjee said, as reported by Economic Times. “Businesses are focussing on entering Tier-II cities, but are often impaired by the lack of cost-effective cold chain infrastructure. This further establishes our offerings of cost-effective and energy-efficient cold chain solutions.”

The startup’s customer base has included the food industry, and healthcare industries such as pharmaceuticals and diagnostics, so far.

Captain Fresh, Gramodaya Trust and the Department of Horticulture and Plantation Crops are among Tan90’s customers.

Investors in the round include Blue Ashva Capital, 3i Partners, Shalini Chhabra and Venkat Nekkanti, among others.

“Solving for cold chain is a key part of solving last mile logistics, improving end product quality and reducing waste at scale,” Founder of Blue Ashva Capital, Satya Bansal said. “Therefore, we’re incredibly excited to work with the Tan90 team to deliver energy efficient cold chain solutions that can perform across a wide temperature range and maintain temperature for extended durations.”

The company plans to use the pre-series A investment round toward research and development plans as the company looks to expand into different industries and geographic markets, as well as toward supply chain and new product options, among others.
