With a goal of reaching 125 restaurants in the Bengaluru by March 2018, Gapoon Online
Consumer Services Ltd., provides services in the field of maintenance.
The company offers customers services including pest control, plumbing, deep cleaning and
electrical services among others. The startup hopes to provide a single place where all the
needs for maintenance can be met.
The goal of 125 restaurants is part of the Bangaluru-based company’s “Swachh Bharat”
campaign. The startup was founded by Ankita Asai, Ankit Bindal, Nikhil Gupta and Apoorva
Mishra, the company’s CEO, in 2015. “We were inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s slogan Swachh Bharat campaign and hence, we decided to initiate the Swachh Bharat campaign in our own way,” Mishra said.
According to Asai, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India provides restaurant with
guidelines including a regular cleaning record, which causes restaurants who sign up with the
company to have more requirements than a home. Asai also said subscription prices tend to
range between Rs 5,000 and Rs 16 lakh per year.
"We have reached out to about 75 restaurants in the past one year under our Swachhh Bharat
campaign to provide cleaning and pest control services to them," Mishra said.
In their pre-series A-round of funding, Gapoon raised funds for advancing technology and
products, receiving approximately USD $250,000. Mishra said the company receives 55 percent of their revenue from subscriptions, 85 percent of which comes from the business-to-business segment.
Investors in the round include Vida Venture, along with independent investors such as Snehal
Mantri, and Anshu Bahadur, Partner at Cognizant.
