Mumbai-based food startup, Holachef, raises Rs 8.95 crore

A startup, which provides customers with fully-cooked dishes delivered directly to them, has
raised Rs 8.95 crore in their Series B round of funding. The startup, Holachef Hospitality Pvt. Ltd., was founded in 2014 by Saurabh Saxena and Anil Gelra in Mumbai, and delivers to 100 pin codes in the city so far.

This round of investments came from angel investors who contributed Rs 2.95 crore, and from
venture capital firms such as Innoven Capital, a Singapore based company which invested Rs 6
crore in the round. In the Series A round in June, investments from Kalaari Capital and India Quotient helped Holachef raise Rs 20 crore.

Customers of Holachef receive meals cooked by chefs employed by the company who work in
the the company kitchen, to provide meals from a variety of cuisines internationally, along with
soups, salads, desserts and beverages. Funding received by the company will be put toward growing the company’s presence and advancing their mobile app.

Similar startups that provide customers with food delivery who have recently received investments
include Authenticook which received Rs 1.45 crore from Booking.com, Wegan Foods which
received funding from Princess Sheikha Arwa Al Qassimi, Ketchupp has received Rs 3 crore,
among others which have received funding in the past year.
