Israeli startup working toward digitizing eye care receives $1 mn from Lenskart

An Israeli digital healthcare startup has received a $1 million investment from Lenskart, as mentioned by the eye wear company. Lenskart, with its national presence in 95 cities throughout India, plans on working with the company to develop, test and bring the product into the Indian market. The startup, 6over6 has developed technology which allows users to discover the correct lenses for the needs through a mobile app.

“Technology stays to be at the heart of Lenskart.com as we are the largest tech focused eyewear company globally,” Founder and CEO of Lenskart.com, Peyush Bansal said. “6over6 is a groundbreaking technology that acts as an auto refractor and lensometer to retrieve the prescription of your eyes and current spectacles using nothing but your smartphone. This partnership will further enhance Lenskart’s online engagement with consumers.”

The eyewear company has also invested $1 million in Ditto, a vitual technology startup that also
produced eyewear, with which the company plans to expand into 460 stores. 6over 6 technology has already been piloted by Lenskart through the Lenskart Home opticians who do more than 1000 appointments in a day. Lenskart.com also employs 3D try-on services on its website and app which witnesses 10,000 trials per day. Lenskart runs a programme of home opticians who do consultations, as well as a website and app for users. The Lenskart Home opticians have been testing the technology developed by 6over6 through their 1,000 a day appointments.
