Mumbai-based car services startup receives investment from US-based Spiffy

Refreshed Car Care, which brings cleaning services for users’ cars to their doorstep, has seen an investment from Spiffy, a US based car services company, in their latest funding round. The Mumbai-based company was founded by Chirag Shah and is so far only available in the city which is home to around 30 lakh cars, Shah said.

The startup is a car care and detail service which provides house calls using vans which use less than 1.5 litres of water per cleaning, contain all necessary equipment and use high-pressure steam cleaners. Founded in November 2016, the 50-person company offers its services for Rs 399 per use.

“We could look at other geographies after six to eight months but our focus is to grow deeper in Mumbai which is a big market,” Shah said. “At present, we are clocking about 1,500 car services per month and are looking to expand presence via petrol pumps where our users can come and get their car serviced as an additional option.” The company could double their team in order to meet demands from their user-base, by March 2018, according to Shah.

Spiffy is a US-based company which provides similar auto care services to users’ homes, has made an investment giving them a minority stake in Refreshed Car Care. The partnership will provide the startup with access to Spiffy’s existing knowledge and developments within the field. “India is one of the fastest growing digital markets and we believe that technology-led on- demand services will be the second digital wave to sweep through the country,” Scot Wingo, CEO of Spiffy said.
