Faith in Food: Venture Catalysts invests in The Bohri Kitchen

In what comes as great news for food-tech startups, The Bohri Kitchen has received seed round funding from Venture Catalysts. The Bohri Kitchen, is a startup founded by Munaf Kapadia and his mother, Nafisa. Kapadia used to work at Google before he founded the company in 2014. His venture has landed him in the Forbes ‘30 Under 30’ list.

The startup aims to provide customers with an at-home feel through their food delivery and provides unique, family recipes that have becomes legacies to the Dawoodi-Bohra community, Economic Times reported.  “When I first thought of the idea that would materialise into The Bohri Kitchen, I was confident of the viability of such a concept in the market,” Kapadia said. “The response that we’ve had so far has just strengthened that belief.”

Funding in the round came via Venture Catalysts, a platform for angel investors. Investors include Anuj Puri of Venture Catalysts Qatar, Abhishek Agarwal of Rockstud Capital, Anirudh Damani of Artha India Ventures, F&B veteran Riyaaz Amlani and Chef Rahul Akerkar.

“The brand has grown from strength to strength, setting up a delivery kitchen and slowly expanding into the restaurant vertical as well,” Anuj Puri, one of the investors, said. “We are confident that TBK will continue to set new benchmarks in the experiential dining space and garner exponential success.” Funds from the round will be used to obtain a larger kitchen, increase staff, standardise menus and improve infrastructure.
