The first startup hub in Bihar has been launched and opened by the state’s Deputy Chief Minister and IT minister, Sushil Kumar Modi.
According to Modi, the hub, which is located in Patna and will assist 31 startups, will bring about encouragement within the youth of state to pursue entrepreneurship. At the inauguration of the hub, Modi encouraged the state’s young entrepreneurs to launch startups.
“Youths should come forward in setting up startups,” Modi said. “They should take risks and try to do something different. The state government is committed to provide necessary assistance in the field.”
Special focus was placed on entrepreneurship within the field of Information Technology (IT), with Modi specifying focus on sectors such as health, agriculture and skill development. Through the new startup hub, startups will receive access to workstations and office spaces with “plug and play” features, for free.
Modi said an IT tower in Dak bungalow was also being built in addition to work on changes in aspects such as policies and structures. The hope is to support and encourage work in the fields of IT and Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM).
An IT park and IT city have also been suggested for building in the state of Bihar, Modi said.
