An art-focused startup looking to build a mobile community of collectors and galleries, Artland, has raised $1 million for company growth.
Founded in 2016, the startup looking to brings artists, galleries and buyers together, charges galleries a fee for a subscription on its mobile app which is used for purchasing art from the galleries as well. Artists can also post pictures of their work using the app.
Denmark-based Artland has accumulated 18,000 users with buyers and collectors including Charles Riva, Victor Benady, and Rolando Jimenez.
Investors in the seed funding round include Mikkel Hansen, Andreas Helgstrand, Shaka Loveless, Nicolas Michaelsen and Poul Oddershede, TechCrunch reported.
The social media-based marketplace app allows users to post collection pictures and forge connections with other members of the art community on their self-created profiles. Funds from the $1 million round will be put toward perfecting the company’s product and services as well as gaining resources.
Nils Stærk, Lyles & King and Seventeen are among the 75 galleries which Artland has collaborated with for its marketplace.
The startup also plans to use the mobile app to introduce new members of the art community to the art-focused market, system and community.
