Milkbasket, a food-focused delivery startup, plans on team expansion in order to improve the company’s technology offerings.
Specifically, the company is looking to grow its engineering department. Since its founding in 2015, Milkbasket has grown to become a 300-person company. The startup provides users with a platform via which they can have groceries delivered to them directly.
The new team growth plans involve a focus on areas such as artificial intelligence, machine learning and big data, Economic Times reported.
“In the near future, the interfaces that we have known till date will alter and become more integrated in the user journey. Machine learning and AI will be integral to this,” CEO at Milkbasket, Anant Goel said, ET reported.
Gurugram-based Milkbasket is looking to expand the engineering team to a force of 100 people. The startup was founded by Goel, Anurag Jain, Ashish Goel, Ekwe Chiwundu Charles and Yatish Talavdia.
Since founding the company has raised a total of $11 million. The company’s recent Series A round worth $7 million was raised in May of 2018.
In addition to the team expansion, Milkbasket plans on building a new centre for Research and Development purposes, which will be the place for the new team.
“Our plans to strengthen our engineering team is very aggressive,” Goel said. “We plan to invest over $2 million and increase the headcount 4X-5X over the next six to nine months. This is inherent to our growth and creates a formidable advantage over the competition.”
