Food and restaurant-focused startup, Hangry, raises new Series A investment round worth $13 million.
The Jakarta-based startup provides a cloud or ghost kitchen service where food is prepared in the company’s kitchens and delivered to customers.
Hangry offers its own four sections or brands that its food offerings are divided into called Moon Chicken, San Gyu, Dari Pada and Ayam Koplo. Since the company’s founding in 2019, Hangry has grown to around 40 kitchen locations, so far.
“We started the hard way, doing delivery-first business, where we faced the challenges surrounding making sure our food still tastes good when it reaches customers’ homes,” Abraham Viktor, co-founder and CEO at Hangry said to TechCrunch. “Now we feel ready to serve our customers in our restaurant premises. Our dine-in concept is an expansion of everything we’ve done in delivery channels.”
The new investment round will be put toward the startup’s expansion plans, including an increase in locations, among others. Hangry also has future plans to expand to upwards of 120 locations.
Investors in the round include Alpha JWC Ventures, Atlas Pacific Capital, Salt Ventures and Heyokha Brothers. Customers can order from the startup’s cloud kitchens through its mobile app, among other food delivery platforms.
