E-learning startup, Quizizz, receives new investment round worth $31 mn

Bengaluru-based interactive learning startup, Quizizz, raises a $31 million investment round for its platform and services.

The startup’s platform provides resources for educators to help make learning more interactive through gamification, quizzes, and other interactive elements. The service has established a presence in approximately 65 percent of American schools, so far.

“In an average week, students around the world answer more than 300 million questions on Quizizz,” Co-founder at Quizizz, Ankit Gupta said, as reported by Livemint. “Our hope is that every time a question is answered, it inspires the student to keep learning and gives their teacher time to focus on personalized support instead of staying up late grading a stack of worksheets.”

Quizizz was founded in 2015 by Gupta and Deepak Joy Cheenath and has produced more than 20 million lessons in different formats, so far.

Investors in the round include Tiger Global Management, Nexus Venture Partners, GSV Ventures, Eight Roads Ventures and Jerry Yang, among others.

The startup’s platform also provides direct feedback for each lesson or quiz taken and sees around 60 million users per month. The Series B investment round will be put toward team growth, expansion plan, and potential partnerships, among other aspects.
