das HGH stand kurz vor der Schließung. Erst mit der Übernahme durch die
Artemed Gruppe im Juli 2016 ging es wieder bergauf. Das HGH1-Team erreichte einen Sieg, das HGH2-Team erzielte ebenfalls einen Sieg.

Alle fünften Klassen des Helmholtz-Gymnasiums erhalten verstärkten Englischunterricht.
In der sechsten Klasse können Schülerinnen und Schüler an einem freiwilligen Vorkurs teilnehmen, der auf den anschließenden, vornehmlich englischsprachigen Sachfachunterricht des bilingualen Zugs vorbereitet.
In diesem Zug findet der Sachfachunterricht in folgender Abfolge und bis zur Klassenstufe
10 mit jeweils einer zusätzlichen Wochenstunde Unterricht pro Fach statt.

Die in der Tabelle angegebenen Stunden beinhalten die Zusatzstunde.
Nach Stationen in Potsdam und Heidelberg kam sie schließlich in Magdeburg an,
ging nach der zwölften Klasse mit der Fachhochschulreife vom
Gymnasium ab, weil Leistungsschwimmen und Lernen zusammen nicht mehr gingen. Zusätzlich zum regulären Sportangebot bieten die am Helmholtz-Gymnasium angeboten Arbeitsgemeinschaften Gelegenheit, sich auch außerhalb
des Sportunterrichts zu beteiligen. Bei einigen dieser AGs kommen unsere Sport-Schülermentorinnen/Schülermentoren zum
Einsatz.
In der Freizeit stehen den SchülerInnen am Helmholtz-Gymnasium
Heidelberg eine Theater AG sowie eine Fotografie AG zur Verfügung.

Die Schule richtet regelmäßig Theateraufführungen und Probenfahrten aus.

Am Helmholtz-Gymnasium Heidelberg kann Musik auf Leistungskursniveau belegt werden. In der Freizeit können die SchülerInnen in einem Chor, einer Big Band oder einem Orchester
musizieren.
