E-commerce lobby group Indiatech.org conceptualised by Sachin Bansal, Chairman, Flipkart, and Bhavish Aggarwal, Co-founder, Ola Cabs, has found support from the telecom and internet giant SoftBank. SoftBank has agreed to back the lobby with finance and help in strategizing the fight against foreign rivals. Notably, SoftBank is the biggest investor in startups like Flipkart, Ola, Grofers, Oyo Rooms, Paytm, Snapdeal and many others leading the fight against international giants like Uber and Amazon.

“SoftBank is one of the several other investors including Matrix and Kalaari in Indian internet businesses such as Ola, Flipkart and Hike, which is supporting Indiatech. Our intent is to work with the government to support the development of the rapidly evolving internet ecosystem in the country and we hope the organisation would facilitate this,” a SoftBank spokesperson said.

The lobby has been on the lookout for support from the major investors of various e-commerce websites, to continue representing the interests of the local startups and offline retailers fighting for market space against foreign companies with bigger funds. SoftBank being one of the major players in the investment for Indian enterprises the support comes as a much needed ammunition.
