Rajasthan encourages entrepreneurs with two-day event

To promote entrepreneurship in Rajasthan, a two-day event will connect entrepreneurs with a
space for development and growth, Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje said. She said the event, Digifest 2017, which is one of the events created by the state government to encourage startups, will also create employment opportunities. The event, organized by the Information and Technology Department of the state of Rajasthan, will present new ideas and creations from the world of Information Technology, speakers from relevant fields, workshops for students and newer companies and projects which the state government has been working on revolving around the state’s citizens.

“Digifest Udaipur will provide a great platform for founders or entrepreneurs to get more traction
leading to funding, engagement and increasing customer base and give a boost to direct and
indirect job creation in Rajasthan in various sectors,” Raje said.
The government of Rajasthan will be supplying the state’s citizens with a government endorsed
email address, a digital signature and a vault for the safekeeping of documents, all combined in
a Digikit. Through the distribution of Digikits, the state government hopes to empower its
citizens.

With a focus on leveraging technology, the state government has made strides to include
technology in multiple aspects. Similar to Digifest, iStart is a similar event put on by the state
government, the first of which saw 20,000 people involved and provided a change in the startup
atmosphere, which then saw improvements and growth. The state is self-proclaimed to be the
first to digitize heritage structures.

Raje said the government has also made efforts to include technology with initiatives while
working with Bhamashah Yojana, e-Mitra and Rajasthan Sampark, Abhay Command Center
and Big Data Analytics among others.
