Riders in Delhi shared the highest number of rides out of the 7 top metropolitan cities in the country for Ola Cabs, a statement released by the company said. This consequently led to over 1.139 million litres of fuel being saved and over 1.92 million kg of carbon dioxide emissions being reduced in the capital, which is plagued with smog and air pollution.
Ola expanded its base to 110 cities across the country and now has over 8 lakh vehicles and 9 lakh drivers providing easy, affordable and reliable transportation to people across the nation. Over 2 million rides were taken through Ola every day.
In the 7 metropolitan cities, over 16.1 million litres of fuel was saved, which is 4 times the amount saved in 2016. This led to a reduction in the CO2 emissions by 9.7 million kg.
Ola outstation, a service that catered to over 1 million customers this year, recorded that it has covered India’s road length 53 times over the course of the year, covering approximately 17.35 crore km across 800 destinations, with Mumbai, Pune, and Delhi being the most popular destinations visited. Traffic speed across the 7 metros registered a reduction of 2.9 km/h and Bangalore recorded the lowest speed at 17.2 km/hr.
