HR software provider, Employment Hero, raises Series B funding worth $6.2 mn

A Human Resources (HR) providing startup, Employment Hero, has raised fresh funding of $6.2 million which the Australian startup will put toward local expansion.

The startup provides business with a cloud-based platform called the Employment Management Platform, which can serve a variety of functions that a company’s HR department would typically handle and can also exist with some existing platforms. Payroll, contracts, benefits, retirement plans and accounting are among the platform’s abilities.

“We have seen significant traction from New Zealand and the UK, whose employment law and culture are relatively similar to Australia, Ben Thompson, founder of Employment Hero said, as reported by Deal Street Asia. “Like any business, we need to decide where is the best place to invest our resources and as the Australian market took off, we decided to focus on the local market.”

SEEK and One Ventures led the $6.2 million funding round which will also be used toward the release of new offerings from the startup, which currently supports over 150,000 employee files.

“Employment Hero is helping businesses succeed by removing major pain points that exist in almost every small to medium Australian business,” Ronnie Fink, Corporate Development Director for SEEK. “We are pleased to support a business that is so well aligned to SEEK’s Purpose, which is helping more people live fulfilling and productive working lives and helping organisations succeed.”

Founded in 2013, Sydney-based Employment Hero has partnered with platforms such as Xero, MYOB, Intuit QuickBooksOnline and Keypay, according to the startup. AirTree Ventures and AMP New Ventures also invested in the Series B round.  The startup partners with 3,000 businesses currently
