Aiming to help users feel calmer, more mindful and confident, Shine, a wellness messaging startup has received an investment worth $5 million.
According to a statement by the company, Shine plans to focus on product development and job growth in order to add members to their team.
With a presence in 189 countries since its founding in 2016, the New York-based company provides users with a service through which they receive daily text messages every weekday with content related to wellbeing or mindfulness.
Comcast Ventures led the Series A round which brought the company’s total funds raised since its founding to over $8 million, as reported by VentureBeat.
Founded by Naomi Hirabayashi and Marah Lidey, text messages sent by the company can consist of thoughtful or thought-provoking messages, ideas for actions, quotes or articles among others.
The startup also recently released a mobile app, providing users with audio which falls into the motivational and overall wellbeing sector as well. Services of the app are free but a premium subscription with additional features is also available.
Betaworks, Felix Capital, the New York Times, Eniac Ventures, Female Founders Fund, and BBG Ventures also participated in the recent investment round.
The company with over two million users also recently raised an investment round worth $2.5 million with participants including Betaworks and Eniac Ventures.
