Bengaluru-based startup, Pitstop, has reportedly raised Rs 10 crore (approximately $1.6 million) in a pre-Series A funding round. The funding round witnessed participation from the startup’s existing investors and was led by Singapore-based GoldBell Group and Blume Ventures.
The startup plans to use the funds received to scale up its ‘Doorstep Service’ across Bengaluru and Delhi-NCR in addition to developing high-end technology to support its infrastructure.
“We have experimented with our operating model (for our flagship model, ‘Doorstep Service’) and have serviced more than 2,300 vehicles at doorstep over past 6 months. Strengthening our business strategy along the same line, we want to build a platform that enables mobility and add great convenience to users thereby creating a hyper-local service model through fleet of mobile vans plying across the geography(ies),” said Mihir Mohan, Founder and CEO, Pitstop.
Pitstop was founded in 2015 by Mihir Mohan and Nirant Ramakuru. It offers general repair and maintenance services for cars via its doorstep service vehicles. The startup is currently operating across six metropolitan cities and works with over 150 garages and workshops as well as directly with customers, rendering regular services, mechanical and electrical repair, body repair and doorstep inspection for cars
In September of last year, the startup had raised $1 million (approximately Rs 64 crore) in a pre-Series a round of funding, from Blume Ventures, GoldBell Group, and a group of well-known investors.
“We found a very high demand for doorstep service from Pitstop’s customers which has prompted us to allocate a large amount of resources to this strategy. The company will further be integrated into managing customers’ cars now from basic service and even accident repair to Pitstop’s partner workshop network – all this handled by a Pitstop service advisor who will be in touch with the customer though the service process,” said Sajid Fazalbhoy, Blume Ventures, when speaking of the investment.
Additionally, the startup also works with fleet and leasing firms including ride-sharing startups. It employs its proprietary SaaS-based Fleet Information System to provide a real-time view of service repairs, vehicle maintenance and the fleet management services. The startup services around 4000 orders per month thereby earning revenues of approximately Rs 2 crore on a monthly basis.
Earlier this year, Pitstop acquired the Delhi-NCR based MotorWhiz in a stock and cash deal in order to enhance its technology base and expand its presence geographically.
