Skit raises Series B investment round worth $23 mn for its automation services

Bengaluru-based SaaS and artificial intelligence startup focused on automating the customer experience for companies, Skit, raises $23 million.

The startup provides customers with a range of services based in speech and voice automation.

“This investment comes when we are making strategic inroads into the US and Southeast Asian markets,” Co-founder and CEO of Skit, Sourabh Gupta said, as reported by Economic Times. “The global contact center market size is expected to grow steadily and reach a value of $496 billion by 2027.”

The company, which was previously called Vernacular.ai before its name change, tailors its services for call centers. Skit has now raised total funding worth $28.1 million. The startup has upcoming plans to grow its business and services, along with team growth plans.

Investors in the round include WestBridge Capital, Kalaari Capital, Exfinity Ventures, LetsVenture and AngelList.

“Skit’s success in helping India’s largest companies positions them well to enter the US market where there is a massive need for voice AI solutions,” a venture advisor to lead investor, Westbridge Capital, Sashi Reddi said, ET reported.

Since its founding in 2016, the startup has grown to include 200 total employees, so far, and includes customers such as Axis Bank and Barbeque Nation, among others. Skit was founded by Gupta, Akshay Deshraj and Manoj Sarda.
