Bengaluru-based FrontRow raises a new investment round worth $14 million for its creativity and skills-focused digital education platform.
The startup offers courses and lessons in ten different sectors that users can take for a cost. The lessons are taught by 17 famous personalities from within the sectors.
“More than 70% of learning is actually outside the classroom and that’s the part that hasn’t been solved yet,” Co-founder at FrontRow, Mikhil Raj said, as reported by Economic Times.
Investors in the round include Eight Roads Ventures, GSV, Lightspeed Venture Partners, Elevation Capital, Vishal Dadlani, Raftaar, Kunal Shah, Gaurav Munjal and Farid Ahsan, among others.
FrontRow offers courses in categories including gaming, music and sports, among other sectors, and also provides some live course options. Since its launch, the startup has seen approximately 50,000 users so far.
“As investors, we’ve been a big champion of the role technology will play in disrupting multiple sectors, including education,” Partner at Eight Roads Ventures, Aditya Systla, said, ET reported. “We believe the market is highly under-served with strong secular trends in digital adoption of non-academic learning driven by limited availability of qualified instructors, flexibility in scheduling and lack of access to structured curriculum.”
The Series A investment round will be put toward growth and expansion plans in terms of offerings provided by the startup. Since its founding in 2012, FrontRow has raised a total of $17.1 million.
“The next decade will see new paradigms of learning, built online first, and better than offline! For this, we’re building a new model of community and cohort-led learning that is a fundamental evolution of ed-tech,” Co-founder at FrontRow, Ishaan Preet Singh said, ET reported.
